not everyone is missing out. Some of us are ahead of everything..

Everyone says college is the best phase of your life. Friends, memories, crazy adventures, late-night talks, and stories you'll tell your kids someday. And then there's my college, sitting somewhere in a village, looking like the developers ran out of budget halfway through building it. I came here expecting a college experience and got a geographical location with classrooms. No vibe, no campus life, no fucking excitement. Just buildings, lectures, and people asking why I'm not enjoying myself. ENJOY WHAT, BRO? The scenery? The same road I've seen 400 times? The legendary adventure of travelling to college just to sit there and count the minutes until I can leave? Hell nah. At this point, even Google Maps looks disappointed whenever I enter this location.
And the people? Well, let's just say the humour department is permanently out of service. I'm not saying everyone is boring, but sometimes a conversation here feels like watching paint dry, except the paint might actually develop a personality first. Someone makes a joke, everyone laughs, and I'm standing there wondering if the punchline is still travelling from the nearest city. Bro, WHERE'S THE FUNNY PART? Did I miss it because of poor network coverage? Is the joke available in the urban version of the college? Because out here, even sarcasm needs a survival certificate. And don't even get me started on the conversations. Sometimes I'd rather stare at a wall for twenty two minutes. At least the wall doesn't repeat the same unfunny shit and expect me to laugh like I've witnessed peak human comedy.
Now, before anyone starts writing my biography, YES, I HAVE FRIENDS. Just a very small circle. I'm not completely abandoned by humanity, okay? I haven't reached the stage where I organise birthday parties for my headphones. I have people I talk to, people I like, and people I can actually tolerate for extended periods. But finding someone who's genuinely on your wavelength? That's a whole different fucking mission. I need people who understand my humour, match my energy, and can turn the most random bullshit into a legendary conversation. Instead, half the time, I feel like I'm running a comedy show where the audience doesn't understand the jokes and the performers don't know they're supposed to be funny. My social battery isn't even dying; it's refusing to turn on in the first place.
And that's how my room became my favourite place on earth. Four walls, a bed, Wi-Fi, and absolutely zero bullshit. No forced conversations, no fake laughing, no awkward attempts to look interested when someone's telling a story with the entertainment value of a government form. I can do whatever the hell I want without somebody asking, "Why are you so quiet?" BRO, BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY. Do you want me to generate dialogue using AI? Should I download a personality patch just so everyone feels comfortable around me? Sometimes I'm quiet because I'm thinking. Sometimes I'm tired. Sometimes I simply don't want to talk. It's not a fucking mystery novel. There's no secret villain arc happening in my bedroom.
But apparently, if you stay in your room, you're antisocial. If you don't talk much, you're egoistic. If you don't run around trying to make friends with every breathing organism on campus, you've got attitude. Hell nah, I didn't realise my personality was a group assignment. People will spend five minutes around you and somehow develop a PhD thesis on your character. "He thinks he's better than us." Bro, I barely think I'm better than my own past self. I'm just trying to improve my life, figure out my future, and survive this questionable academic side quest. I'm not acting superior; I'm just not interested in forcing connections that don't feel natural. There's a difference between thinking you're better than people and realising you don't vibe with them. But apparently, nuance died somewhere between the college gate and the first lecture.
The funniest part? I actually wanted the college experience. I wanted those random plans, stupid inside jokes, friends who make you laugh until your stomach hurts, and memories that make you say, "Fuck, those were the days." I wanted to go out without needing a reason, have conversations that last until 3 a.m., and meet people who make even the most boring Tuesday feel worth remembering. But what the hell am I supposed to do when the college has no vibe, the surroundings have nothing going on, and my social circle could fit comfortably inside a small WhatsApp group? I'm not asking for a Bollywood movie, bro. Just give me one genuinely fun day without making it feel like a special government initiative. I didn't come here expecting luxury. I just expected something more than four years of academic survival mode.
And yeah, sometimes I wonder if I'm missing out. Everyone else seems to be making memories while I'm in my room, doing my own thing. Maybe I'm missing some experiences. Maybe I should go out more. But then I remember that going outside doesn't magically make your surroundings interesting, and being surrounded by people doesn't automatically mean you're having a good time. I'd rather spend an evening alone than spend four hours somewhere, surrounded by people, wondering when the hell I can leave. At least when I'm alone, the disappointment is self-generated. That's personal growth, I guess.
So, welcome to QUARANTINE. I'm not hiding from the world; I'm just waiting for the world around me to give me a decent fucking reason to participate. I have friends, but not a whole army. I like people, but not every conversation. I want memories, but not manufactured ones. And I have an attitude, apparently, because enjoying my own company has become more offensive than the college's complete lack of entertainment. Until further notice, I'll be in my room, working on myself, laughing at things that are actually funny, and watching my college life load like a 2G connection in the middle of nowhere.
If these are supposed to be the best years of my life, adulthood better be fucking legendary. Because right now, the plot is shit, the comedy is missing, the characters are questionable, and the main character is seriously considering staying home for the rest of the season.
